We Transfer is another file sharing  web application. It has a nicely designed interface. It does not require any registration for usage. Maximum file size that can be transferred is 2 GB . Faster file transfer. The applicagtion is free to use as it is built on in open source. 

It is very simple to use as you need enter your email and recipient email only. Only Draw back is there is no pass word protection for the files to be transferred.

You can also signup and once your email is verified the files you send are more securely transferred. But if you do not sign up  you need to send a verification code for every  email transfer.

With pro account you get 1 TB of storage, can receive and send files of big size of 20 GB.  Password protection is also enabled. You can even delete the transfer initiated and resend the file.

Dropsend

Dropsend is another useful file sharing website similar to WE transfer.

  You can send 8GB of files fast and secure. No downloading  and installing of     software and the recipient of your file need not have Dropsend account.

Files are secured with 256 AES High level encryption.

The process of sending files is simple you enter your email, recipient email, and optional subject and message and select the file for upload and you get an email for validating your account. Once you have validated and logged in you can transfer the file.

Furthermore, you cannot send a certain type of files ( like .exe file) as email attachments whatever may be its size. See the list of files that cannot be sent as Gmail attachments.

Transfer files through Email service providers 

Google Drive

  If you have a Gmail account you can upload and share all files including the .exe files and share. Your Gmail account will allow you 15GB of free storage( that includes your email and attachments also). You can upload files and share the link for download by your friends. 

Even whey you try to send big files as Gmail attachments, it prompts you to save to google drive and send as a sharable link. you can provides rights for the users to view only/ comment only/ editable while sharing the link. One big advantage is that the link never expires.

Microsoft One Drive

                 Microsoft one drive basic package comes with 5 GB of storage space, a personal vault for storing 3 files, and office applications like word, excel, and PowerPoint and outlook built-in. You access it with  a Microsoft account or Hotmail account. You can use this for uploading and sharing files and share it using a sharable link. There is no expiration for the link and you can share with specific rights like view/comment/edit. 

File Compression

                             This is a very old prevalent practice to compress big files and folders to reduce the size and then transfer them over internet. You can use open source compression software like    7 Zip.    It is free to use. 

                            You create a folder of your video files( or any other files) and using 7-Zip, compress  to a zip file. 7-zip format is superior to conventional zip formats.

                       7-Zip application is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS  operating systems also..

               However 7-Zip performance on desktop is smooth. But for mobiles you need additional soft wares for unzipping the zip files like extractors.

Share large files using FTP

 If you have access to server resources using FTP ( File Transfer Protocol) you can  upload the files using applications like File Zilla client.  It is a free solution.  You can upload files of any size( subject to the limitations imposed by your server).  Fire FTP is another solution that can be downloaded from Github. Certain Hosting service Providers like  Justhost will not allow you to use the server as storage except your website content.

Firefox Send

1. Firefox Send is a free transfer service from Mozilla that lets you share files from any browser on the PC

  you can share files as large as 1GB. If you sign in with a free Firefox account, Send allows files as hefty as 2.5GB. When you share a file via Send, the recipient receives a link to click and download it.

You can then decide on a few link-sharing security options, like whether the link will expire after a specific number of downloads or a certain amount of time.

A password can also be used to secure the files being sent. Check the box for Protect with Password and then type the password you want to use. Anyone who receives the link will need the password to access the file.
