Many times a need arises to duplicate a WhatsApp group. Some of the possible scenarios are.

• You have a group where you are the group admin and you set the group settings which allows only Admins to send messages. And you wanted to create another group with the same participants where everybody can send messages
• you would like to duplicate a group with few participants added/deleted to cater to different interests( Movie lovers/ Only Music lovers)

Normally WhatsApp does not have a provision for duplicating the group. However here is a work around to accomplish this task.

I am giving below step by step instruction

Step 1:

Open the URL https://www.wawebpro.com/

Step 2

Click on Agree & continue.

Step 3

WhatsApp web is opened. The difference is Pro Logo at the top left hand corner.

Step 4:

Open WhatsApp web in your mobile and scan the Qr Code on your Desktop/Laptop. and WhatsApp web client is opened.

Step 5

Open the Group you wanted to duplicate and click on the three vertical dots on the top side of posts and in the ensuing pop window click on Duplicate Group( see the picture shown below)

Step 6

All the members in the original group are pre selected and click on OK button at the bottom. It will navigate to the screen and prompts you to add new group subject. In this case for demo purpose the group subject is given as Duplicate Group Name and click on the green button below the Group Subject.

That is all. New Group is created which is a duplicate of the group you have selected .

Remembering passwords is next to impossible? Some people scribble in notebooks which is not a practical solution Or even some store them in their local system. This may be a safe solution as you only have access to your system. But what if you are mobile and need to check your websites while in taxi, airport, or in office or in the outstation?

The solution is a password manager. Many of the browsers like Google, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge provide Password Managers. How does the Password manager Work? Let us see in detail.

A password manager is a software application that store and manages the passwords that a user has for various websites or Apps. Password managers store the passwords in a totally encrypted format and provide secure access to all the password information with the help of a master password.

The important point to remember is that you should have a strong password of length more than 8 characters(a combination of alphabets, number, and special characters like @,%#, etc) for your Gmail account. The password strength should be strong.( Either remember this or store in a safe place). That is all. All the websites you have logged in using chrome will be stored in Google Password Manager and you need not remember them or write in a register.

Whenever you want to open the password manager, you need to login with Gmail and once opened it will show all the websites you have opened with chrome.

Settings for Password Manager

Click on gear symbol and the following settings will appear

You can offer to save passwords and allow Auto sign-in. You can export your passwords in text format by clicking on Export Button. It will also show the list of sites and apps you’ve chosen not to save passwords.

For Password saved websites, you can click on the website link to view, edit, or copy the password. For websites where passwords are saved, you can click and open the site, and login in form is auto-filled( if you have enabled the auto sign-in options in settings as shown above. No need to type a password in the login form.

Password Checkup

One of the fine feature of password manager is Password Checkup.

It will show you a report about the passwords you used for various websites. See the image below

Out of these Compromised passwords is more alarming and you need to change the passwords for those websites. Similarly, you can take necessary action for reused passwords and accounts having weak passwords.

We Transfer is another file sharing  web application. It has a nicely designed interface. It does not require any registration for usage. Maximum file size that can be transferred is 2 GB . Faster file transfer. The applicagtion is free to use as it is built on in open source. 

It is very simple to use as you need enter your email and recipient email only. Only Draw back is there is no pass word protection for the files to be transferred.

You can also signup and once your email is verified the files you send are more securely transferred. But if you do not sign up  you need to send a verification code for every  email transfer.

With pro account you get 1 TB of storage, can receive and send files of big size of 20 GB.  Password protection is also enabled. You can even delete the transfer initiated and resend the file.

Dropsend

Dropsend is another useful file sharing website similar to WE transfer.

  You can send 8GB of files fast and secure. No downloading  and installing of     software and the recipient of your file need not have Dropsend account.

Files are secured with 256 AES High level encryption.

The process of sending files is simple you enter your email, recipient email, and optional subject and message and select the file for upload and you get an email for validating your account. Once you have validated and logged in you can transfer the file.

Google Drive

  If you have a Gmail account you can upload and share all files including the .exe files and share. Your Gmail account will allow you 15GB of free storage( that includes your email and attachments also). You can upload files and share the link for download by your friends. 

Even whey you try to send big files as Gmail attachments, it prompts you to save to google drive and send as a sharable link. you can provides rights for the users to view only/ comment only/ editable while sharing the link. One big advantage is that the link never expires.

Microsoft One Drive

                 Microsoft one drive basic package comes with 5 GB of storage space, a personal vault for storing 3 files, and office applications like word, excel, and PowerPoint and outlook built-in. You access it with  a Microsoft account or Hotmail account. You can use this for uploading and sharing files and share it using a sharable link. There is no expiration for the link and you can share with specific rights like view/comment/edit. 

File Compression

                             This is a very old prevalent practice to compress big files and folders to reduce the size and then transfer them over internet. You can use open source compression software like    7 Zip.    It is free to use. 

                            You create a folder of your video files( or any other files) and using 7-Zip, compress  to a zip file. 7-zip format is superior to conventional zip formats.

                       7-Zip application is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS  operating systems also..

               However 7-Zip performance on desktop is smooth. But for mobiles you need additional soft wares for unzipping the zip files like extractors.

Share large files using FTP

 If you have access to server resources using FTP ( File Transfer Protocol) you can  upload the files using applications like File Zilla client.  It is a free solution.  You can upload files of any size( subject to the limitations imposed by your server).  Fire FTP is another solution that can be downloaded from Github. Certain Hosting service Providers like  Justhost will not allow you to use the server as storage except your website content.

Firefox Send

1. Firefox Send is a free transfer service from Mozilla that lets you share files from any browser on the PC

  you can share files as large as 1GB. If you sign in with a free Firefox account, Send allows files as hefty as 2.5GB. When you share a file via Send, the recipient receives a link to click and download it.

You can then decide on a few link-sharing security options, like whether the link will expire after a specific number of downloads or a certain amount of time.

A password can also be used to secure the files being sent. Check the box for Protect with Password and then type the password you want to use. Anyone who receives the link will need the password to access the file.
